Mexico City Swine Flu Pandemic

We all knew it could happen and it was only a matter of time. And this time the deadly virus was unleashed in Mexico City, with 20 million potential victims. 200 have died so far and the hospitals are being will soon have to turn people away. Some hospital staff are amongst the victims. People leaving the city have brought the virus to Los Angeles, San Antonio, and even New York City.

It's time to do the unthinkable, we must close the border and refuse travel to or from the city; it will have to become a quarantine area until this virus runs its course. Will this happen? Well, the President of Mexico recently declared a state of emergency due to the drug cartels but as of Sunday night April 26, 2009 he hadn't declared a state of emergency for the H1N1 Swine Flu pandemic.

Mexico City is an extremely dense populated city and hygiene wise a very dangerous city for this deadly virus. In fact, water shortages are another huge issue and the water in Mexico City was turned off for three-days during the early weeks of this pandemic outbreak. Now everyone is wearing masks around town and half of everything is closed, but the death tolls are rising, some fear they might go hyperbolic.

Is the United States going to act to protect the American People and seal off the border while we isolate the cases we already have here? Should we be sealing off the borders between the US and Mexico, and if so when, when would it be prudent to do so? Now.
